Urban Renewal Innovation & Practice Advanced Program

Tongji University × ESCMT France | Sino-French Experts to Explore Future Urban Transformation

To advance the goals outlined in the State Council’s Guidelines on Promoting Urban Renewal Actions, the Urban Renewal Innovation & Practice Advanced Program (1st Session)—jointly organized by the Shanghai Urban Renewal Research Association, Tongji University, and ESCMT France, and co-organized by Hong Kong Kunlun International Education Ltd. and Esri China—will officially commence on December 5, 2025, at Tongji University, Shanghai.

Designed under the theme “Policy × Academia × Global Vision × Practical Case Studies”, the program provides a high-level learning and exchange platform for policymakers, planners, architects, developers, and sustainability leaders. Participants will engage in both classroom sessions and field studies of Shanghai’s landmark urban renewal projects, blending academic rigor with hands-on exploration.

  Dr. Florent Deisting, Director of Initial Education & Accreditation, Africa Business School (UM6P), former Director of Societal Transition at TBS Education, on “ESG Innovation Driving Urban Renewal and Creativity.”

  Philippe CHAIX, Knight of the French National Order of Merit, former Head of the La Défense Redevelopment Authority, on “Innovative Models and Implementation Paths for Urban Renewal.”

  Prof. Michel Savy, Professor at École des Ponts ParisTech and École d’Urbanisme de Paris, on “Global Perspectives on Urban Transport Governance and Renewal.”

Graduates will receive joint certificates issued by Tongji University, ESCMT France, and the Shanghai Urban Renewal Research Association, and may apply to join the Expert Talent Database.

This collaboration marks a new milestone in Sino-French cooperation in urban renewal, sustainability, and education innovation, fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise for the cities of the future.
